These are some of the comments from the testimonials of the intrepid teams who took on the first “Expedition Idaho – brought to you by Gramicci” in August 2011, and, in the true spirit of the Raid, the expedition will continue August 12 – 18, 2012!

With a completely new course, countless new challenges and as epic an event as a racer could ever want, Expedition Idaho is poised to be one of the most amazing, full expedition races in the world in 2012!

This is an expedition where the journey is at least as important as the race, and where all who commit to the challenge emerge as champions.

Last year, we promised, and we quote:

“Expedition Idaho will provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience to those intrepid souls who have the true spirit of adventure in their hearts, and who long to undertake a special journey that will leave their spirit changed forever.

You and your team will compete against a magnificent backdrop, where you can be a part of nature as well as just pass through it.”

And the unanimous opinion of the racers was that we succeeded.

And the finish? In AR, there has never been anything like the finish at Expedition Idaho! Imagine EVERY team getting to finish during “prime time,” in the middle of a 2500 person beer and blues festival to the standing ovation and high fives of an appreciative crowd! How is 2012 looking? Over almost 7 days, teams will undertake a 500 – 800 km expedition over some of the most beautiful, epic and challenging terrain on Earth in a unique format!

Racers will use map, compass and their own wits and skills to navigate their way over an unmarked route by mountain biking, rafting, paddling, trekking, crossing rivers, orienteering, trail running, using fixed ropes, and maybe a few other surprises through the wild panhandle of northern Idaho.

NEW THIS YEAR! 

We will be offering the ultimate in “Adventure Tourism,” as we introduce “Adventure Idaho!”

Teams will race from one TA to the next in a “stage race” format, where at every TA, we will have tents, hot food and the rolling ExpId Party waiting for them! Teams will get to experience many of the highpoints of the course, fully supported, and have a warm fire waiting for them at the end of each day’s racing!

No matter which way you choose to experience Expedition Idaho, our goal is to provide racers with an ultimate racing experience that harkens back to the original spirit of “the Raid,” where racers must problem solve, route find and persevere over a true, unmarked wilderness expedition course that will challenge them to their limits, while providing them with a life-altering experience they will never forget!

We will be tweaking and working on the course and format constantly to make sure that this is the best race experience you can have, so the details will be as perfect as we can make them!
